Wetlands are more than just birds and bugs.
Our mission is to rewrite the narrative surrounding wetlands restoration efforts in San Diego by quantifying the economic value of a restored marsh. We find that the wetlands could be worth millions.
Estimated Annual Economic Value:
$2,847,100

How is the value estimated?
Our analysis is built upon the “Wildest” plan from the ReWild Mission Bay Coalition. We couple their plan with estimates from numerous scientific and economic studies in an effort to derive the economic value of the plan’s proposed 227 acres of new wetlands. The plan is visible below in addition to the other restoration proposals developed by the City Planning Department.
